Not every horse is suited for a riding career, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve a safe and loving home.
Our Pasture Pet Match Program is designed to connect owners of retired, companion, or non-riding horses with individuals seeking equine companions for their own horses. Whether a horse is aging, has physical limitations, or simply thrives in a non-riding role, we believe there may be a pasture where they can enjoy a happy and fulfilling life.
If you have a horse in need of a retirement or companion home, we encourage you to reach out to us. While we cannot guarantee placement, we will do our best to share your horse's information within our network and help identify potential matches when opportunities arise.
Likewise, if you are looking for a companion horse for your herd, we'd love to hear from you. By connecting horse owners and pasture pet seekers, we hope to create positive outcomes that keep horses safe, cared for, and out of the slaughter pipeline.

"Slaughter2Success helped bring June, a 20+year-old mare, to our farm down here on the IA/MO border. June had been rescued from a sale barn kill pen, emaciated and living with a caring foster family for a month, then was trailered by S2S to our farm on June 29th. I had reached out to S2S a few weeks earlier, asking if they knew of an older horse needing a safe home and who would be joining another older mare on our farm. In March of this year, we discovered a blind 20-year-old mare wandering around in our asparagus patch. We found her owner, and he planned to take her home and shoot her, 'Because you can't sell a blind horse. Nobody wants a blind horse. Unless you want her?' he said to me. Of course, I quickly accepted his offer, and Lady adopted one of our pastures as her own. My search for a pasture mate for this blind mare took me online to S2S. They answered my email inquiry promptly. Yes, they knew of a possible match. After a few phone calls and discussions, we both decided this timid mare 'up North' would be a great addition to 'Lady's pasture.' June has been here a week, and after a few normal equine "hiccups upon introduction, the senior citizen ladies are getting along quite famously! Because of the caring people working with Slaughter2Success, a beautiful, friendly roan mare and a beautiful "cautiously friendly" bay mare are peacefully living out their lives together in one of our pastures. The body language of these two new friends says 'thank you.' And so do I."
